Ruth 3:14–15, NASB Rest Yields Far More Results When Ruth worked from morning to evening in the field of Boaz, a wealthy relative, she collected only one measure of barley. That’s about 10 days’ supply. But when she simply rested overnight at his feet, he gave her six measures of barley—about two months’ supply! Boaz, Ruth’s kinsman redeemer, is a picture of Jesus our Redeemer, whom we are to rest in. This rest refers to an inner posture of trust and quiet confidence in Jesus’ finished work and in His ability to give you increase and good success as you go about doing what you need to do. Rest is not sitting around doing nothing and waiting for His blessings to fall into our laps. Beloved, what God doesn’t want you to do is worry and do things out of fear. He wants you to rest at Jesus’ feet and listen to His words of love and life.
