Pursuit Of His Presence

1 Corinthians 12:1-11

1 NOW ABOUT the spiritual gifts (the special endowments of supernatural energy), brethren, I do not want you to be misinformed.
2 You know that when you were heathen, you were led off after idols that could not speak [habitually] as impulse directed and whenever the occasion might arise.
3 Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking under the power and influence of the [Holy] Spirit of God can [ever] say, Jesus be cursed! And no one can [really] say, Jesus is [my] Lord, except by and under the power and influence of the Holy Spirit.
4 Now there are distinctive varieties and distributions of endowments (gifts, extraordinary powers distinguishing certain Christians, due to the power of divine grace operating in their souls by the Holy Spirit) and they vary, but the [Holy] Spirit remains the same.
5 And there are distinctive varieties of service and ministration, but it is the same Lord [Who is served].
6 And there are distinctive varieties of operation [of working to accomplish things], but it is the same God Who inspires and energizes them all in all.
7 But to each one is given the manifestation of the [Holy] Spirit [the evidence, the spiritual illumination of the Spirit] for good and profit.
8 To one is given in and through the [Holy] Spirit [the power to speak] a message of wisdom, and to another [the power to express] a word of knowledge and understanding according to the same [Holy] Spirit;
9 To another [wonder-working] faith by the same [Holy] Spirit, to another the extraordinary powers of healing by the one Spirit;
10 To another the working of miracles, to another prophetic insight (the gift of interpreting the divine will and purpose); to another the ability to discern and distinguish between [the utterances of true] spirits [and false ones], to another various kinds of [unknown] tongues, to another the ability to interpret [such] tongues.
11 All these [gifts, achievements, abilities] are inspired and brought to pass by one and the same [Holy] Spirit, Who apportions to each person individually [exactly] as He chooses.

Make the Distinction

by Kenneth Copeland

“Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.... There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.... For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; to another faith.” 1 Corinthians 12:1-9
“I know I’m supposed to use my faith to be healed. But wait a minute. I went to a miracle service the other night, and I saw a great many people get healed who’d never exercised that kind of faith. Why can’t I just get my blessings that way? Why do I have to work so hard?”
Have you ever heard someone say something like that? It’s a very good question, one that often leaves many people confused during times of great outpouring like we’re experiencing in the Church right now.
Even ministers can get drawn off course when they step into a meeting and God simply drops the gift of faith upon them. Suddenly they find themselves operating in power beyond anything they’ve ever experienced and they say to themselves, I didn’t do anything to exercise that kind of faith. God just sovereignly gave it to me. So I suppose I should quit trying to develop faith and just let God give it as He wills.
The reason people start thinking that way is because they fail to make the distinction between the kind of faith God gives every believer, and the special manifestation of faith that is described in 1 Corinthians 12.
It is a glorious thing when the gifts of the Spirit begin to flow. It is marvelous when God moves in on the scene with His own faith and, by the operation of His own Spirit, accomplishes things that none of us are developed enough in faith to accomplish. But never lose sight of this fact: Those special manifestations of faith were not given to us to live by each day. It’s our own faith that is to be developed and used for that purpose.
Why then does God sometimes choose to meet those day-to-day type needs, such as the need for healing, through the ministry gifts? I wondered that myself some years ago. I saw it happen in Kathryn Kuhlman’s ministry, so I asked the Lord about it.
Miss Kuhlman is My nursery attendant, He explained. I have sick spiritual babies all over the world. They don’t know to walk in the Word. They don’t know what you know about living by faith. Some of them are so lazy they will never know it. But I want them well anyway.
So learn to make the distinction between the faith you are developing and the gift of faith. Both are needed. You’re not developing your faith just for yourself. The Master is training you to help with the little ones who are coming into the kingdom of God in this end-time outpouring by the thousands.
Speak the Word
“I walk by faith and not by sight. I allow God to move in my life by faith.” —2 Corinthians 5:7

Our Daily Bread: Picking Up the Pieces After Job Loss

1 Chronicles 28:9-20

9 And you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father [have personal knowledge of Him, be acquainted with, and understand Him; appreciate, heed, and cherish Him] and serve Him with a blameless heart and a willing mind. For the Lord searches all hearts and minds and understands all the wanderings of the thoughts. If you seek Him [inquiring for and of Him and requiring Him as your first and vital necessity] you will find Him; but if you forsake Him, He will cast you off forever!
10 Take heed now, for the Lord has chosen you to build a house for the sanctuary. Be strong and do it!
11 Then David gave Solomon his son the plan of the vestibule of the temple, its houses, its treasuries, its upper chambers, its inner rooms, and of the place for the [ark and its] mercy seat;
12 And the plan of all that he had in mind [by the Spirit] for the courts of the house of the Lord, all the surrounding chambers, the treasuries of the house of God, and the treasuries for the dedicated gifts;
13 The plan for the divisions of the priests and the Levites, for all the work of the service in the house of the Lord; for all the vessels for service in the house of the Lord:
14 The weight of gold and silver for all the gold and silver articles of every kind of service–
15 The weight of the golden lampstands and their lamps, the weight of gold or silver for each lampstand and its lamps, according to the use of each lampstand;
16 The gold by weight for each table of showbread, and the silver for the tables of silver;
17 Also pure gold for the forks, basins, and cups; for the golden bowls by weight of each; for the silver bowls by weight of each;
18 For the incense altar refined gold by weight, and gold for the plan of the chariot of the cherubim that spread their wings and covered the ark of the Lord's covenant.
19 All this the Lord made me understand by the writing by His hand upon me, all the work to be done according to the plan.
20 Also David told Solomon his son, Be strong and courageous, and do it. Fear not, be not dismayed, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail or forsake you until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord.

WHITEWATER EXPERIENCES: I was enjoying the start of my first whitewater rafting experience until I heard the roar of the rapids up ahead. My emotions were flooded with feelings of uncertainty, fear, and insecurity at the same time. Riding through the whitewater was a firstrate, white-knuckle experience! And then, suddenly, it was over. The guide in the back of the raft had navigated us through. I was safe, at least until the next set of rapids.
Transitions in our lives are like whitewater. The inevitable leaps from one season of life to the next, college to career, singleness to marriage, career to retirement, marriage to widowhood, are all marked by uncertainty and insecurity.
In one of the most significant transitions recorded in Old Testament history, Solomon assumed the throne from his father David. I'm sure he was filled with white-knuckle uncertainty about the future. His father's advice? "Be strong and of good courage, and do it; . . . for the LORD God, my God, will be with you" (1 CHRONICLES 28:20).
You'll have your fair share of tough transitions in life. But with God in your raft you're not alone. Keep your eyes on the One who is navigating the rapids. He's taken lots of others through before. Smooth waters are just ahead. -Joe Stowell
God will guide you through the rapids of change.

Jonah Challenge

Psalm 119:71

71 It is good for me that I have been afflicted, that I might learn Your statutes.

Devotional

"My suffering was good for me, for it taught me to pay attention to your decrees." (Psalm 119:71, NLT). Afflictions and storms cause us to be totally dependent on the only ANCHOR that can fight waves – GOD. There is a beautiful Hillsong Song called 'Cornerstone' and in one of the verses the lyrics are ‘My anchor holds within the veil’. This is the hope that every Believer has, that no matter the storm, our Anchor being God, will hold!
Have Faith In The Prayers Made During Storm
Jonah had faith that God heard his prayer and delivered him from his situation! From verse 1-2, I deduce that he believed his prayer was answered before he was ‘actually’ delivered. We need this type of faith, storm or no storm! We need to believe that God hears our prayers and will answer according to His sovereign will! Remember Jonah spent 3 days in that fish! Most of us would have given up after day one. Jonah persevered, seeking God’s answer, turning His heart to God’s temple and we should too!
The Weeds Of The Mind And The Importance Of FELLOWSHIP
Jonah said the weeds entangled his head. This intrigued me. Head=mind… Looking at the features of weeds: They are annoying plants, if you have a garden you’d know. Weeds are skilled in growing anywhere and everywhere that weed killer does not exist! Weeds grow aggressively!
Those weeds are the negative maladaptive thoughts, cognitions that grow in the absence of the weed killer – The Word of God (John 1:1), God, Fellowship etc.
"God’s Word is a sword, ‘shank’ every thought that is impure" as Jahaziel’s song says. Take captive every thought, don’t allow it to grow! Fellowship is so important. Lack of fellowship with others leaves you vulnerable on a spiritual level! The mathematics of the Bible shows how important fellowship is!
When Jesus started his ministry, what did he do? He found himself disciples, varying in kind and occupation! 12 to be precise.
When God created the world, who was with him? The Holy Spirit, the counselor, WISDOM.
Adam was given to Eve.
Need I say more…FELLOWSHIP is key! The List of Examples are endless.

Day 260

Day 260 of 365

  • A Great Trade

Did you know that God wants to make a trade with you? He has a standing offer every minute of every day, and it's amazing how few of us actually take Him up on it. He wants you to give Him all your cares, problems and failures. In return He'll give you His peace and joy.

God really does want to take care of us, but in order to let Him, we've got to stop trying to take care of ourselves and worrying about every little thing we can't control. Many people would like for God to take care of them, but they insist on worrying or trying to figure out an answer on their own, instead of waiting for God's direction.

God will give us peace, but we must first give Him our worries. What a great trade! We give God our worry, and He gives us His peace. We give Him all our cares and concerns, and He gives us His protection, stability and joy. That's the amazing blessing and privilege of being cared for by Him.

Prayer Starter: Lord, You have offered me an amazing trade. You are so much more capable than I am, so I give You all of my cares and receive all of the peace and joy that You offer me!
  • Psalm 55:22

Psalm 55:22 NIV

22 Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.

Daily Bible Quote

It's 11/30 and here is today's scripture:

If anyone belongs to Christ, there is a new creation. The old things have gone; everything is made new!    2 Corinthians 5:17

Meditate On This

Meditate On
For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.
2 Corinthians 1:20
Arise And Shine!
Beloved, because of Jesus’ perfect finished work at the cross, all of God’s promises of provision, protection and good success are yes and Amen! Meditate on this unchanging truth. Say these words out loud:
I declare that I am special in Jesus’ eyes, and He loves me unconditionally. I have an awesome destiny. Jesus has equipped me with gifts, talents and abilities. Today, I receive the abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness to reign in life. I give thanks that His favor surrounds me like a shield and opens doors of opportunities for me. Because of Jesus, I shall be the head and not the tail, above and not beneath, the lender and not the borrower. I shall not suffer lack but be surrounded by His abundance, His wisdom, His peace and His protection.
Thank You, Jesus, for Your finished work at the cross for me. I receive a fresh revelation of Your love right now and thank You that everything my hands touch shall be blessed! I believe with all my heart that I am greatly blessed, highly favored and deeply loved! Amen!

BE ENCOURAGED!!!!!

Give thanks today ~ even if your life is not what you want it to be. You may be facing financial hardships with no place to call your own, in the midst of serious health or relationships challenges, dealing with crazy children or relatives or overworked and underpaid. When you look at your life, it may be hard to be thankful.

For others, this may have been your best year ever. You turned your life around, enjoyed success, created more love in your life and exceeded your personal best. Regardless of where you find yourself...in all things give thanks. You still have another chance to turn things around, set things right; heal relationships, live full out, laugh and love more and stand in your GREATNESS! Your presence creates possibility, promise and hope for the future. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

Don't stop now! Your breakthrough is right around the corner. The last mile is often the longest one...so keep moving forward, look for ways to pull ahead and win. Someone is about to step in and give you a break.

Continue to believe in miracles and work to bring about a victory. Strengthen your faith to believe that anything is possible... in your relationships, career, health, or finances. Your words create your world, so affirm yourself daily. Monitor your thoughts. What you think about ~ you bring about. Keep your mind focused on your goal. Never give up. Because, you have something special. You have GREATNESS within you!

When money is short, tempers may flare. Patience may be tested and nerves can be on edge. When there's no finances, there is often no romance. You may have been left alone with the responsibility of being a single parent with children to support by yourself. In some cases, living on the edge and doing just enough to survive, puts your life in a place that you never could have envisioned. If you find yourself snapping at people, or even worse, losing self-control, take a step back. Don't allow issues around money to hurt others, or to push you over the edge. You'll end up ultimately hurting yourself.

Focus on what needs to be done so that arguments, or stressors about money, become a thing of the past. Become a part of the solution instead of the source of the problem. If you're buying things you don't need, get help to stop. Work on generating ideas, minimizing sources of financial conflict. Envision a future in which you live past conflicts or stresses about money. You have greatness, knowledge and experiences in you that will allow you to overcome your financial woes. Tap into your creativity and bring out the entrepreneur in you. Explore new ways of creating multiple streams of income. Make it your business to work on ways to increase your personal economy, financial security and your peace of mind. Because, you have something special. You have GREATNESS within you!

Words Of Wisdom

God’s love is not exclusive; it’s inclusive. It doesn’t exclude people that are different. Unconditional love says, “I’m going to love you even if I don’t agree with you.”

Challenge yourself out of your comfort zone and into your commitment zone!

Peace cannot exist in disorder. When things are out of order, there will be chaos and confusion. When there is chaos and confusion, things cannot be clear. When you are clear, you are peaceful.

If a fellow isn't thankful for what he's got, he isn't likely to be thankful for what he's going to get.

When we praise God and we're thankful, it opens the door for the Holy Spirit to work really amazing things in our life.
God does His best work when things don’t look right. – Pastor Jackie McCullough #AnInspiredGeneration
There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.—1Jn 4:18, NIV Beloved, if you believe that God is out to punish you, you will only end up in fear and torment! You won’t have any confidence to approach your heavenly Father for help, and you’ll be in constant fear of something bad happening each time you fail. The Bible, however, tells us very differently! It says that there is no fear in love! Because of Jesus’ great love for you, He went to the cross and exhausted ALL of God’s punishment for your sins and failures. Today, you will never have to fear that God is angry with you! Keep feeding and meditating on His perfect love for you and let it cast out every fear! http://josephprince.com/
Happy Friday! Show and share the love of Jesus with the people you encounter today - especially if you’re shopping!

Happy Thanksgiving. I am truly grateful. I’m grateful for being here, for being able to think, for being able to see, for being able to taste, for appreciating love -- for knowing that it exists in a world so rife with vulgarity, with brutality and violence, and yet love exists. I’m grateful to know that it exists. And I’m grateful to know it exists in me, and I’m able to share it with so many people. God bless you and yours.

Jonah Challenge Day 1

Read Jonah 1

Devotional

Jonah was a prophet to northern Israel, their enemies were the gentile nation of Assyria ‘Nineveh’ the great city and Jonah was given the unusual instruction from the Lord to preach to that city calling them to repentance. Here we see one of the first displays of God’s desire to see all nations saved and how He would do so through Israel!
We don’t know how Jonah received this word from God, whether it was verbal, in a dream or vision, writing on a wall or through another prophet, but Jonah didn’t respond with words, he just ran. Rebelled against God’s command.
Down is never good when God is up! Notice that verse 3-4 says that Jonah went ‘down’ to Tarshish and ‘down’ to Joppa (which means beautiful- its actually our modern day Tel Aviv). Eventually he ended up down in the belly of a whale, which Jonah himself describes as ‘sheol’ which is another name for hell.
Are you desensitized to the product of your disobedience? While the storm is going on Jonah was sleeping (Jonah 1:5). I imagine this is like sleeping during turbulence on a plane. What this shows is Jonah’s ignorance and desensitization to his disobedience. A trap many of us fall into! We sleep when we need to wake up and change. OBEDIENCE IS BETTER THAN SACRIFICE!! OBEDIENCE IS BETTER THAN ENDING UP IN A WHALE! 1 SAMUEL 15:22
Don’t deny God in the midst of your storm. In verse 9 we read Jonah’s first words, he states his identity and who he believes in, even in the midst of the storm… what can we learn from that? Even in our mess, don’t deny the God that you serve. For this is the one reason why in verse 16 we see that these men who served other gods now feared the Lord God Almighty and made sacrifices & vows unto Him. Without Jonah’s declaration, they wouldn’t have known.
Jonah took responsibility for his disobedience (Jonah 1:12). In psychology there is something we call ‘Diffusion of Responsibility’ where everybody shares in the blame or the glory of a situation. There was none of that there because Jonah stepped forward and said cast me out for the sea to calm down. Very noble, as I know some would have liked to have company in that big whale and therefore drag people down in their plight.

Pursuit Of His Presence Day 73

Romans 13:8-10 Amplified Version

Keep out of debt and owe no man anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor [who practices loving others] has fulfilled the Law [relating to one's fellowmen, meeting all its requirements].
9 The commandments, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not kill, You shall not steal, You shall not covet (have an evil desire), and any other commandment, are summed up in the single command, You shall love your neighbor as [you do] yourself. [Exod. 20:13-17; Lev. 19:18.]
10 Love does no wrong to one's neighbor [it never hurts anybody]. Therefore love meets all the requirements and is the fulfilling of the Law.

1 Corinthians 13:1-8

1 IF I [can] speak in the tongues of men and [even] of angels, but have not love (that reasoning, intentional, spiritual devotion such as is inspired by God's love for and in us), I am only a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
2 And if I have prophetic powers (the gift of interpreting the divine will and purpose), and understand all the secret truths and mysteries and possess all knowledge, and if I have [sufficient] faith so that I can remove mountains, but have not love (God's love in me) I am nothing (a useless nobody).
3 Even if I dole out all that I have [to the poor in providing] food, and if I surrender my body to be burned or in order that I may glory, but have not love (God's love in me), I gain nothing.
4 Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily.
5 It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God's love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong].
6 It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail.
7 Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening].
8 Love never fails [never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end]. As for prophecy (the gift of interpreting the divine will and purpose), it will be fulfilled and pass away; as for tongues, they will be destroyed and cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away [it will lose its value and be superseded by truth].

I Will Walk in Love!

by Gloria Copeland
“To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ; lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.” 2 Corinthians 2:10-11
Love is the real secret of our success. That’s why Satan is working furiously day in, day out to deceive and pressure us into stepping out of love. He is constantly sending situations our way to tempt us to stop yielding to love and to yield to the “enemies of love.”
It’s vitally important that we not be ignorant of the devil’s devices, because when we’re ignorant or unaware, we’re more likely to fall prey to them.
It is important for us to study the Word to know what love is and what it is not. We need to study the enemies of love so that when the devil tempts us with them, we can quickly recognize his strategies and say, “No, devil! I refuse to do that. It’s unloving, and I choose to walk in love!”
Some people don’t realize that resisting temptation is that simple. (Notice, I didn’t say easy. I said simple.) But it is! Temptation is nothing more than a solicitation to do evil. In times of temptation, the devil comes to you like a solicitor or a salesman and makes you a presentation. He brings an influence into your life and puts an opportunity in front of you to sin. One reason we fail to reject the devil’s solicitations at times is because we don’t recognize temptation for what it is. We buy the devil’s line before we even realize he’s selling something to us.
So we have to learn his devices.
The enemies of love are things such as envy, which the dictionary defines as “a feeling of discontent and ill will because of another’s advantages, possessions or success.” Jealousy, which is a little stronger than envy, is also an enemy of love. To be jealous is to be “suspicious, apprehensive of rivalry or resentfully envious.” Proverbs 6:34 says, “Jealousy is the rage of a man.”
Pride, too, is listed in 1 Corinthians 13 as an enemy of love. It is an overly high opinion of one’s self, exaggerated self-esteem, or conceit—and it shows itself through haughty or arrogant behavior. Pride is something we have to watch for in our lives. The moment we start to think more highly of ourselves than we ought, we need to humble ourselves before God and repent of pride.
Other enemies of love include bitterness, resentment and unforgiveness. Those three things are among the biggest obstacles to walking in love, especially among people who have truly been hurt or abused.
Examine your heart. Listen to your mouth. Are you walking in love, or in the enemies of love? Love is the real secret to your success in relationships, on the job, in your marriage, everywhere. Make a quality decision today: I will walk in love!
Speak the Word
“I am not ignorant of Satan’s devices. I determine to walk in love and refuse to allow him to take advantage of me.” —2 Corinthians 2:10-11

Day 259

Day 259 of 365

  • Sharing in His Suffering

As Christians, we like the thought of sharing in Christ's glory, but what about sharing in His suffering? Jesus took care of the death penalty once and for all so we don't ever have to worry about that again. But the Bible teaches that we must suffer times of trial if we are to share in the glory. Is it worth it? According to Romans 8:18, it certainly is!

We tend to believe that we suffer because of our circumstances and if they would only change, we'd be able to act right. But God wants us to become so mature and stable that we act right even when none of our circumstances are good. There are different levels of faith, and most of the time we want to use our faith to get rid of all suffering. But sometimes God's plan is for us to exercise a higher level of faith that will carry us through life's challenges.

Too often we marvel at the delivering power of God and overlook His keeping, strengthening and enabling power. Jesus promised in John 16:33 that He will give us His peace during the trials of life and the power we need to overcome them. I encourage you today, if you are going through a time of suffering, take heart because in Christ, you will come through it and share in His glory which shall be revealed!

Prayer Starter: Lord, Paul said that present sufferings are nothing compared to the glory that comes from walking with You. I want to have that same attitude. I receive Your enabling power to walk through any suffering that comes my way.
  • Romans 8:18

Romans 8:18 NIV

18 I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.

Meditate On This

Meditate On
…He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness…of sin, because they do not believe in Me; of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more.
John 16:8–10
The Spirit Convicts You Of Righteousness
When I got saved as a young man, I remember how right after praying the sinners’ prayer, a counselor asked me, “Do you know what you have inside you now?” I said, “No.” He said, “Once you are saved, you have the Holy Spirit inside you.”
Then, he said to me, “The Holy Spirit is the ding-dong bell inside you. He’s there so that when you do wrong, He’ll go, ‘Ding-dong! Ding-dong!’” And from then on, I felt like there was always somebody watching me, not to catch me doing right, but to catch me doing wrong. I began to see the Holy Spirit as a faultfinder!
I’m so glad that I know better today. The Holy Spirit is not a “ding-dong bell,” and certainly not a faultfinder. He doesn’t convict believers of their sins. On the contrary, He convicts believers of their righteousness in Christ!
Today’s verses show us that the Holy Spirit convicts the world (non-believers) of one particular sin—the sin of not believing in Jesus. We believers cannot be convicted of this sin of unbelief because we already believe in Jesus. What the Holy Spirit does convict us of is our righteousness. God gave us the Holy Spirit to remind us that we are righteous in Christ because of His sacrifice.
Beloved, thank God that the Holy Spirit is in you to convict you of righteousness. When you fail, He is the warm, encouraging voice that points you to the cross and says, “Jesus’ blood has removed this sin. You are still righteous.” He gives you the strength to get up on your feet again and to keep walking with God. And when you know that you are righteous, you will live a life that honors God!

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving Family,

Today I want you to simply focus on being "Thankful".  I'm thankful for my life, health, family and good friends.  I could write a list but that would take me the rest of my life to complete.  Today, I don't want to complain about anything.  I just want to say Lord thank you!  Enjoy your day!

Pursuit Of His Presence Day 72

Hebrews 9:11-28
11 But [that appointed time came] when Christ (the Messiah) appeared as a High Priest of the better things that have come and are to come. [Then] through the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with [human] hands, that is, not a part of this material creation,
12 He went once for all into the [Holy of] Holies [of heaven], not by virtue of the blood of goats and calves [by which to make reconciliation between God and man], but His own blood, having found and secured a complete redemption (an everlasting release for us).
13 For if [the mere] sprinkling of unholy and defiled persons with blood of goats and bulls and with the ashes of a burnt heifer is sufficient for the purification of the body, [Lev. 16:6, 16; Num. 19:9, 17, 18.]
14 How much more surely shall the blood of Christ, Who by virtue of [His] eternal Spirit [His own preexistent divine personality] has offered Himself as an unblemished sacrifice to God, purify our consciences from dead works and lifeless observances to serve the [ever] living God?
15 [Christ, the Messiah] is therefore the Negotiator and Mediator of an [entirely] new agreement (testament, covenant), so that those who are called and offered it may receive the fulfillment of the promised everlasting inheritance–since a death has taken place which rescues and delivers and redeems them from the transgressions committed under the [old] first agreement.
16 For where there is a [last] will and testament involved, the death of the one who made it must be established,
17 For a will and testament is valid and takes effect only at death, since it has no force or legal power as long as the one who made it is alive.
18 So even the [old] first covenant (God's will) was not inaugurated and ratified and put in force without the shedding of blood.
19 For when every command of the Law had been read out by Moses to all the people, he took the blood of slain calves and goats, together with water and scarlet wool and with a bunch of hyssop, and sprinkled both the Book (the roll of the Law and covenant) itself and all the people,
20 Saying these words: This is the blood that seals and ratifies the agreement (the testament, the covenant) which God commanded [me to deliver to] you. [Exod. 24:6-8.]
21 And in the same way he sprinkled with the blood both the tabernacle and all the [sacred] vessels and appliances used in [divine] worship.
22 [In fact] under the Law almost everything is purified by means of blood, and without the shedding of blood there is neither release from sin and its guilt nor the remission of the due and merited punishment for sins.
23 By such means, therefore, it was necessary for the [earthly] copies of the heavenly things to be purified, but the actual heavenly things themselves [required far] better and nobler sacrifices than these.
24 For Christ (the Messiah) has not entered into a sanctuary made with [human] hands, only a copy and pattern and type of the true one, but [He has entered] into heaven itself, now to appear in the [very] presence of God on our behalf.
25 Nor did He [enter into the heavenly sanctuary to] offer Himself regularly again and again, as the high priest enters the [Holy of] Holies every year with blood not his own.
26 For then would He often have had to suffer [over and over again] since the foundation of the world. But as it now is, He has once for all at the consummation and close of the ages appeared to put away and abolish sin by His sacrifice [of Himself].
27 And just as it is appointed for [all] men once to die, and after that the [certain] judgment,
28 Even so it is that Christ, having been offered to take upon Himself and bear as a burden the sins of many once and once for all, will appear a second time, not to carry any burden of sin nor to deal with sin, but to bring to full salvation those who are [eagerly, constantly, and patiently] waiting for and expecting Him.

“He is not ashamed to call [us] brethren.” Hebrews 2:11
All of us struggle with habits at some time or another. We work at them and work at them to change. There may be some things in your life today that are a little slow in coming around. You will have to resist the devil in those areas. But you can stand against him. You can take the Word of God and put him out.
In the meantime, do not allow yourself to be subjected to harassment or condemnation, whether it be physical or spiritual. It’s dangerous.
Don’t let yourself or anyone else say things like, “I’m so unworthy. I’m so bad. I’m so worthless.” That’s against the Word of God. If Jesus walked through the door and stood right there for the next 20 years preaching every minute of every day, He would never call you unworthy. It’s proven in Hebrews 2.
Jesus is not ashamed of you...therefore, you don’t have any business being ashamed of yourself!
So stop it and start believing what the Bible says. Believe that you’re God’s workmanship created in Christ Jesus. Start confessing that. Instead of talking about what a messed-up rascal you are, start agreeing with the Word and calling yourself the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:21). Practice seeing yourself that way. Practice seeing yourself operating in the victory. After all, Jesus has already won it for you. So receive that victory by faith!
Speak the Word

John 6:11
See The Supply And Give Thanks!
When Jesus was given just five loaves and two fish to feed more than 5,000 people, He didn’t see the impossible demand placed on Him. He didn’t say, “Are you kidding Me? What do you expect Me to do with so little?”
No, He looked up and saw His Father’s infinite supply of grace. He was most grateful, not one bit despising. He smiled and GAVE THANKS for the little that was in His hands. And the Father made sure that the little multiplied and multiplied to feed the hungry multitudes till they were stuffed!
My friend, has an impossible demand been placed on you today? Perhaps your boss expects you to bring in hefty profits when you’re a rookie with only a few clients. Maybe your child wants you to spend more time with him when you’ve hardly got free time for yourself because you’re holding down two jobs!
It’s natural to focus on the little time, experience or resources that you have and throw your hands up in despair. But let me encourage you today to look to the Lord. See His infinite supply of grace streaming toward you—every megabit paid for by His blood. It’s when you choose to see His boundless supply that you’ll be able to THANK HIM for the little that you have, because you know that He’s going to multiply it many times over!
With God’s favor, those few clients will sign big deals with you. They’ll recommend you to their friends because they favor and trust you! The short moments that you spend with your child will be quality time spent together that imprints precious memories in his mind for years to come!
Beloved, a little goes farther than you can ever imagine when you see God’s abundant supply of grace and have a heart full of thanksgiving!

Day 258

Day 258 of 365

  • Wait with Patience

Many people want change, but they don't want to go through the waiting process. But the truth is, waiting is a given, we are going to wait. The question is, are we going to wait the wrong or right way? If we wait the wrong way, we'll be miserable; but if we decide to wait God's way, we can become patient and actually enjoy the wait.

It takes practice, but as we let God help us in each situation, we develop patience, which is one of the most important Christian virtues. Patience is a fruit of the Spirit. It's developed only under trial, so we must not run from difficult situations.

As we develop patience, the Bible says we finally feel completely satisfied, lacking nothing. Even our relationship with God involves progressive changes. We learn to trust Him in a deeper way by going through many experiences that require us to wait longer than we'd like.

Trust me, the waiting may be hard, but it will make you stronger. The benefits that patience brings are certainly worth any uncomfortable wait!

Prayer Starter: God, I want to change and grow deeper in my relationship with You. I understand that this means developing patience, but I know that I will grow stronger as You develop patience in me.

The Gratitude Experiment

Gratitude HD - Moving Art™

Change your thoughts, change your life

Write down five things you’re grateful for each day and your life will change forever.

Gratitude Is About the Future, Not the Past

BY David DeSteno

When life's got you down, gratitude can seem like a chore. Sure, you'll go through the motions and say the right things -- you'll thank people for help they've provided or try to muster a sense of thanks that things aren't worse. But you might not truly feel grateful in your heart. It can be like saying "I'm happy for you" to someone who just got the job you wanted. The words and the feelings often don't match.
This disconnect is unfortunate, though. It comes from a somewhat misguided view that gratitude is all about looking backward -- back to what has already been. But in reality, that's not how gratitude truly works. At a psychological level, gratitude isn't about passive reflection, it's about building resilience. It's not about being thankful for things that have already occurred and, thus, can't be changed; it's about ensuring the benefits of what comes next. It's about making sure that tomorrow, and the day after, you will have something to be grateful for.
One of the central findings to emerge from psychological science over the past decade is that certain emotions serve socially adaptive functions. When we experience emotions like compassion, admiration, and shame, they drive us to alter our behaviors toward others. As Adam Smith intuited long ago, these innate feelings, or moral sentiments, impel us to act in ways that benefit our fellow humans -- to engage with them in behaviors that foster the common good. And in the case of gratitude, the evidence couldn't be clearer. In the face of loss, tragedy, or disaster, few psychological mechanisms can do more to benefit an individual's or a society's ability to thrive.
Much research, including from my own lab, confirms that gratitude toward someone for past assistance increases the odds that we'll return the favor and help a benefactor in need. That's fine, but in the case of many types of challenges, pairing previous benefactors and recipients isn't an easy or efficient process. There are lots of people -- those dealing with the flooding in Colorado or those struggling to put food on their tables, for example -- that need help immediately. What is required for people and societies to recover rapidly, then, are mechanisms that make people help others they don't know well -- mechanisms that push people to pay it forward to strangers.
This is where the power of gratitude really resides. Its benefits come from an ability to create cooperation and support out of thin air. In my lab, we've shown this using a simple framework. We stage events where individuals experience a problem and then have someone come to their aid just when it looked as if all hope were lost. The result? Lots of gratitude toward the fixer. But that's not the interesting part. It's what happens next that is the surprise. When these newly-grateful souls subsequently run into strangers who ask for help, they not only more readily agree to aid them than do individuals who weren't feeling grateful, but also expend a lot more effort in the act of helping itself. The more gratitude people feel, the more likely it is they'll help anyone, even if it's someone they've never laid eyes on before.
These benefits aren't limited to direct face-to-face encounters. Given the option, grateful people will make financial decisions that "lift all boats" even when offered options to increase their own profit at another's expense. In these times, where the click of a button can move funds to anywhere in the world where they're needed, gratitude-induced giving can have a powerful effect.
Such occurrences of indirect reciprocity -- the extending of help to new people -- is known to kick cooperation in a group into high gear. In the face of individual or societal tragedies, then, any phenomenon that can enhance such indiscriminate paying-it-forward stands as a key to resilience.
So next time you have the opportunity to say "thank you," don't let it ring hollow. Embrace the gratitude; feel it as deeply as you can, because in so doing, you're actually increasing the odds that in the future we'll all have more for which to be grateful. On the deepest, unconscious level, gratitude is really about being grateful for the actions that are yet to come.

Gratitude

The Basic Practice
The spiritual practice of gratitude has been called a state of mind and a way of life. But we prefer to think of it as a grammar — an underlying structure that helps us construct and make sense out of our lives. The rules of this grammar cover all our activities. Its syntax reveals a system of relationships linking us to the divine and to every other part of the creation.
To learn the grammar of gratitude, practice saying "thank you" for happy and challenging experiences, for people, animals, things, art, memories, dreams. Count your blessings, and praise God. Utter blessings, and express your appreciation to everything and everyone you encounter. By blessing, we are blessed.
Why This Practice May Be For You
The continuum of words related to gratitude go from greed and jealousy; through taking things for granted and feeling entitled; to appreciation, acceptance, and satisfaction. The practice of gratitude would be an appropriate prescription whichever one of the above describes your attitudes.
The rules of the grammar of gratitude are not as simple as they seem at first glance, however. For example, often instead of rejoicing in what we have, we greedily want something more, better, or different. We can't be grateful because we are making comparisons and coveting other possibilities.
When this happens on a personal level, when it's our ego that is dissatisfied, then we are ungrateful. But when we want something more, better, or different for the glory of God or for the benefit of the community, this greed may be a manifestation of our devotion, our love, or our yearning for justice. And then we are grateful for these commitments.

Gratitude 365: Beyond Thanksgiving

Another Thanksgiving has arrived. Have you made sure to tell the world what you are grateful for?
Gratitude, without a doubt, is one of the key characteristics of a leader. Since we all know that leading in a vacuum isn't really possible, it is only with the positive contributions of others that we as leaders are able to accomplish our goals.
However, I want to share a question that occurred to me this year as another feast is about to be served and many feelings of thankfulness discussed.
Why is it that we require a holiday to profess our gratitude? Regardless of what it is we are grateful for.
Whether it is your family, loved ones, friends or possessions. Being grateful isn't (or at least shouldn't be) a momentary feeling that passes with the massive consumption of turkey and stuffing.
The problem is that this sporadic gratitude for most isn't merely a reflection of how they feel about their personal lives, it is often a reflection of behavior that tends to show gratitude far too irregularly to generate the greater results that this emotional connection can yield in someones personal life or in the work place.
While our character tends to impact our lives similarly within the workplace and outside, I think it is important to take a moment to consider the professional impact of gratitude.
I certainly would never suggest that we shouldn't take a moment on a holiday such as Thanksgiving to say thank you to so many people in our lives who make it possible. However, the act of gratitude should never be limited to a specific day that comes each year.
In the past I have discussed the importance of saying thank you. For these simple words can (re)inspire and (re)ignite your team time and time again. The key to making this simple act matter is nothing more than being genuine. So long as the person to whom you give thanks knows it comes from the center, it will carry enormous weight.
So do you wait until Thanksgiving, or other high holidays to be grateful? If so, allow this to serve you as a simple reminder that gratitude is best when practiced regularly.
And to reiterate, Thanksgiving is a wonderful holiday that brings so many families and loved ones together. By all means, let those in your life know they matter.
However, for best results don't wait for the calendar to remind you to be grateful.
While we all certainly come from different walks of life and we all have different things to be grateful for, we all have much to be grateful for nonetheless. And to wait until Thanksgiving to say thank you would be like waiting until your wedding anniversary to tell your spouse that you love them. Neither serve as the recipe for personal or professional success.
Do you show Gratitude beyond Thanksgiving?
I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving. I'm thankful for all of my readers and supporters. Happy Holidays!

Why Living a Life of Gratitude Can Make You Happy

“If the only prayer you said in your whole life was, ‘thank you,’ that would suffice.” – Meister Eckhart
Post written by Leo Babauta.
Many days, I try to humble myself and hold a 2-minute gratitude session. I simply sit or kneel, with no distractions, close my eyes, and think about what I’m grateful for and who I’m grateful for.
I don’t do it every day, but let me tell you, on the days I do it, it makes me very happy.
Why should that be? Why should the simple act of thinking about who and what I’m grateful for make such a big difference in my life?
Just a few reasons:
  • Because it reminds you of the positive things in your life. It makes you happy about the people in your life, whether they’re loved ones or just a stranger you met who was kind to you in some ways.
  • Because it turns bad things into good things. Having problems at work? Be grateful you have work. Be grateful you have challenges, and that life isn’t boring. Be grateful that you can learn from these challenges. Be thankful they make you a stronger person.
  • Because it reminds you of what’s important. It’s hard to complain about the little things when you give thanks that your children are alive and healthy. It’s hard to get stressed out over paying bills when you are grateful there is a roof over your head.
  • Because it reminds you to thank others. I’ll talk about this more below, but the simple act of saying “thank you” to someone can make a big difference in that person’s life. Calling them, emailing them, stopping by to say thank you … just taking that minute out of your life to tell them why you are grateful toward them is important to them. People like being appreciated for who they are and what they do. It costs you little, but makes someone else happy. And making someone else happy will make you happy.
What do I give thanks for, privately, in my little gratitude session? It varies every day. I thank all the readers of this site, for the encouragement you have given me, for the donations you’ve made that have made me that much closer to realizing my dreams, for the criticism you’ve given that has made this site better … for the time you’ve given me, just reading the articles when you have the chance.
I thank my loved ones, for all they do to me. I thank strangers who’ve shown me little acts of kindness. I thank God, for the life he’s given me. I thank people around the world for the things they’ve done to make the world better. I thank myself, for things that I’ve done (it’s important to recognize your own accomplishments).
How to Live a Life of Gratitude
The thing is, simple acts of gratitude don’t cost you much (especially once you get over the initial discomfort some people feel with thanking others). But they can make a huge difference.
If you’re interested in living a life of gratitude, here are my suggestions:
  • Morning gratitude session. Take 2-3 minutes each morning to give thanks, to whoever or whatever you’re grateful for. You don’t have to do anything, other than close your eyes and silently give thanks. This one act can make a huge difference.
  • Say thank you. When someone does something nice for you, however small, try to remember to say thank you. And really mean it.
  • Call to say thanks. Sometimes you might think about something nice that someone did for you. Perhaps you remember during your gratitude session. When you do, pick up the phone and call the person, just to say thanks. Let them know what they did that you’re grateful for, and why you appreciate it. Takes a minute or two. If it’s too early to call, make a note to call later. Even better is telling them in person, if you happen to see them or if they’re on your route. Almost as good is a thank-you email — keep it short and sweet.
  • Give thanks for “negative” things in your life. There’s always two ways to look at something. Many times we think of something as negative — it’s stressful, harmful, sad, unfortunate, difficult. But that same thing can be looked at in a more positive way. Giving thanks for those things is a great way to remind yourself that there is good in just about everything. Problems can be seen as opportunities to grow, to be creative. See the prayer below for more on this.
  • Learn a gratitude prayer. There are many prayers, religious or not, that can remind you to be grateful. Find one you like, and print it out or make it your desktop wallpaper. Here’s a religious one, and here’s a collection from a multitude of religions. You can find many others on the Internet, or write your own. If you’re not religious, make one that doesn’t include the concept of God. A good one is below.
Let me leave you with a prayer of gratitude that I’ve always found … well, perfect:
Be Thankful
Be thankful that you don’t already have everything you desire,
If you did, what would there be to look forward to?
Be thankful when you don’t know something
For it gives you the opportunity to learn.
Be thankful for the difficult times.
During those times you grow.
Be thankful for your limitations
Because they give you opportunities for improvement.
Be thankful for each new challenge
Because it will build your strength and character.
Be thankful for your mistakes
They will teach you valuable lessons.
Be thankful when you’re tired and weary
Because it means you’ve made a difference.
It is easy to be thankful for the good things.
A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who are
also thankful for the setbacks.
GRATITUDE can turn a negative into a positive.
Find a way to be thankful for your troubles
and they can become your blessings.
