Police: 2 deaths in Reno's Caughlin Ranch ruled a murder-suicide: father and 6-year-old girl

“While the cause of death for the father was apparent, the cause of death for the girl is still pending and will require toxicology and laboratory testing,” police said in a statement.
No one else was in the residence.
About 2:35 p.m. Monday, REMSA, the Reno fire and police departments were called to the home on a report of a drowning.
REMSA personnel arrived first and attempted to call out to anyone in the residence through an open front door, police said.
When they received no answer, police said, they entered the residence to look for anyone in need of medical attention.
They immediately began lifesaving efforts on the girl. Reno firefighters arrived soon after and immediately began helping the paramedics and continued a search for others that may have needed medical assistance, later finding the father, Scott.
Toxicology and lab testing on the girl are expected to take a couple of months.
The contents of the father’s suicide note were not disclosed.
The father and daughter are survived by Scott's wife, who is the girl's mother and a second child, a brother, police said.

The deaths of two people in Reno’s Caughlin Ranch were a murder-suicide involving 46-year-old father, his 6-year-old daughter, police said Wednesday.
The father was identified by Reno police as Adam Alexander Scott. The girl was not identified by name.
The girl's father was found in the garage of a home in the 4900 block of Mountainshyre Road, dead with an apparent gunshot wound to the head, police said. A suicide note was found in the residence.
Paramedics found the girl submerged in a bathtub unconscious, police said.
No one else was in the residence.
