Start Living

Start Living – Latasha F.

Toxic relationships are  beyond difficult. We go through intense extremes with one person just  to prove that we can love and are worthy of being loved. Often times in our quest to love we encounter some pains that make us want to give up altogether. There comes a moment when hurting feels normal and peace feels eerie. We cease to believe that love can exist without chaos, but then there are moments when our heart protests. We  admit that we still want more, even if it’s just  a whispered prayer in a pillow. For the brave those moments become reality and we find the courage to choose ourselves. For me, that moment did not come easily. I questioned what others would think about me, but I  found peace when I learned one thing: life doesn’t take it easy on any of us. We all have our own crosses to bear, but you can’t bear a cross you don’t believe in. How could I offer to bear someone else’s cross when I was too ashamed to carry my own? The moment I fell in love with my cross, God saved me from the weight of its shame. Good or bad it takes courage to admit when you’re struggling to balance the weight of your choices. The moment you vocalize your need for help God will send someone so that you know you aren’t alone .  As a freshman/sophomore in college Latasha found herself in an abusive relationship. Now a senior she’s finally putting herself  together “all by the grace of God.” Here to encourage another who may be facing what she’s survived read Latasha’s #DearLostMe:
Dear Lost Me,
Time heals everything so remember that when you find your heart in pieces. Never let someone else determine your value when God has already deemed you as royalty.  Learn to love your imperfections because that’s what makes you a queen. People will come and go in your life, but anchor your heart in the Lord. You’ll be able to withstand the losses and gain wisdom from the experiences.  God has a way of showing you how much you need him in your life so take heed to caution signs.  Your past is nothing to be ashamed of, but rather a testament of God’s grace, love, and your strength.  The road ahead isn’t easy but it will be well worth the journey, so pack light, let go of unhealthy baggage, and remember it’s never too late to start living.
 With love always,
Tasha
