Family to Visit Site of Rutgers Student's Suicide
The family of the Rutgers University student who killed himself after
his roommate used a webcam to see him kissing a man will visit the scene
of his suicide.
Tyler Clementi's parents and brother will meet on Sunday with two
members of a group walking from Chicago to the George Washington Bridge
to raise awareness about bullying.
Clementi's brother, James, tells WINS ( http://cbsloc.al/1bgn3L3 ) radio it makes sense to go since the Friend Movement is walking in Tyler's memory.
The 18-year-old killed himself in 2010, soon after starting college. His
death sparked a national conversation about the treatment of young
gays.
His roommate served less than a month in jail after he was convicted of
invasion of privacy, bias intimidation and other counts. He's appealing
his conviction.
