- Matthew 22:34-36 (King James Version -KJV): But when the
Pharisees had heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they were
gathered together. Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a
question, tempting him, and saying, Master, which is the great
commandment in the law?
- 1 John 3:16 (Amplified Bible -AMP): By this we come to know
(progressively to recognize, to perceive, to understand) the [essential]
love: that He laid down His [own] life for us; and we ought to lay
[our] lives down for [those who are our] brothers [in Him].
