33 Ways Two Overcome Frustration

I have a huge experience with frustration. I experienced it in so many ways, at so many times in my life, that I feel like I’m some kind of a specialist. If you wonder why I have this huge expertise, here’s the answer: growth never happens without it. The more frustration you are able to harvest, resolve and overcome, the more growth you’re experiencing. Avoiding it, hiding from it, deluding the game, none of these strategies will make you a better human being. On the contrary.
What follows is a list of tools and approaches I used to solve my own frustration and limitation episodes.

1. Accept Reality

Yes, something bad happened. Don’t spend your day imagining how beautiful life could be if it wasn’t for that stupid incident or mistake. This is it. It is frustrating, no doubt about it, but rejecting this reality will not lower the frustration, on the contrary, will make it stronger and stronger. Accept reality.

2. Shift Your Focus

It’s so easy to get caught in a spiral of anger and despair when you’re frustrated, and I know that first hand. Shift your focus by engaging in small but demanding activities. Get involved. Do take the necessary steps to get over the frustrating situation, but do not ignore everything else around you.

3. Talk About It With A Friend

Find somebody you trust and talk about it. Let it out. Don’t let it grow inside yourself until you explode. Most of the time, when you reach this point, it’s too late to make a meaningful change that will restore your reality. Let your worries and your tension fly. After all, this is what friends are for, right?

4. Journal It

If you don’t keep a journal, start now. Write down all your fears, all your sensations and describe them in great detail. Do it until you feel you can’t do it no more. You’re going to feel incredibly better. Writing has this side effect of lowering what you write about, making it more manageable. Just try it.

5. Write A Letter About It

Imagine you’re on a desert island. Sit down and write a letter to somebody who could potentially rescue you. Be verbose. Imagine how your life will be after you leave that desert island. Because if you can’t describe that, you will never leave the island. Then destroy the letter.

6. Write A Worse Case Scenario

What is the worst thing that may happen to you right now? List everything from physical loss to emotional imbalances. Try to foresee every little detail of a worst case scenario. What life will you live if everything will turn out as bad as possible? Then read it. It won’t look as bad as you thought.

7. Identify A List Of Possible Actions

What exactly will make the situation acceptable again? What are the things that you could actually do to improve your current status? Make a list. Try to identify every possible action, as improbable as it may seem, and put it on the list. At the end of this, you’ll feel much better: you have work to do.

8. Sleep Over It

Most of your unconscious life happens while you’re asleep. Try to go to bed with a clear thought of resolution. Don’t try to find a solution, just prepare yourself for getting out of that frustrating circle. During the night your unconscious mind will find resources to make you stronger.

9. Be Your Own Avatar

Try to look at yourself from “the outside”. Write on a piece of paper what an observer would see at you. How do you behave? How do you talk, how do you act? The more you’ll do this exercise, the more you’ll differentiate yourself from the frustrating persona and take control over it at the same time.

10. Read Something Funny

This will not solve your problem, most of the time it will only switch your focus to something else, giving you a temporary break. Do not mistake this technique with avoidance, just use it as a chillout session, then get back on track and solve whatever you have to solve.

11. Stop Blaming Yourself

Maybe you did something really wrong, and your current situation is the result of that mistake. Take responsibility but don’t blame yourself. It’s all in the past. You’re in the present now and you can do something about it. Blame will only put weight on that past and drag you down. Avoid it at all cost.

12. Take A Walk

Even on the wild side, if you like the wild side, but do take a walk. The mere action of moving will set you up for action and hopefully will make your mind a little clearer.  Walking always helps me put my thoughts in order and let off the steam a little bit. And it’s free of charge.

13. See It From The Future

This one goes hand in hand with number 6. Try to describe your current situation and look at it from the future. 1 year from now, your problem will be as  big as it is right now? How about 5 years? Or 10 years? Putting your frustration in a larger context will usually weaken it or at least make it manageable.

14. Cook A Delicious Meal

As simple and mundane as it may seem, cooking is an art. And every time you perform some sort of an art, you’ll see the world through your intuitive mind. You’ll summon your way out of frustration rather than find it through logical inference. And cooking is the cheapest – and tastiest – art one can afford.

15. Go To A Party

Not to be abused and transformed into some sort of escapism but extremely useful to lower your shirtiness. Go out, mingle and see if you can wipe out your frown from your face. You can get back to your problems later, when your body and mind will be more balanced. After the hangover, of course.

16. Write About Your Past Successes

You don’t have to keep a journal for it, you can just sit down at a table and remember all your breakthroughs. Or only the most important ones. Seeing yourself succeeding will definitely weaken all that frustration you feel right now and will also give you some hints about how to completely overcome it.

17. Borrow Some Enthusiasm

Stay around energetic people or get involved in active projects. Choose to be part of something that exhales a lot of energy. Get involved in fresh projects. Being around enthusiastic people will lower the frustration to the point where it can actually become manageable. And it will make you just feel better.

18. Soak and Dry

Let it flow through you until you’re completely overloaded. Just be sure not to do something during this stage. Isolate from the world and allow yourself to be frustrated. Then slowly wait for the frustration to dry out. Sometimes, this “all you can eat” approach is the only way to deal with it in a healthy way.

19. Go Watch A Comedy

As an alternative to number 10, “Read Something Funny”. Giving yourself permission to laugh will lower your anger and hopefully will make things easier to handle. Also, seeing people in strangely hilarious situations will make your own frustration seem awkward. Through a good laugh at it.

20. Attack It With The “Why?” Weapon

Another writing exercise, in which you start to find the root cause of your frustration by asking “why?” questions. “Why am I broke?” – Because I spent too much. “Why did I spent too much” – Because I’m feeling insecure. “Why?…” You got the idea. At some point, something will click inside.

21. Volunteer For Something

Frustration is closely related to your ego, or the part of your being that is concerned with those big phrases starting with “Me…”. If you volunteer to do work for somebody else, you’ll stop feeding your ego with energy. The weaker that part gets, the stronger your authentic and powerful part will be.

22. Stand Up And Fight

Be a soldier. Give yourself orders and follow them. Instill some rough and unquestionable discipline in your life. Get up early in the morning, do your work as if you’re on a battle field and then go to sleep. Repeat until your problems become just situations you can solve by following an easy sequence of new orders.

23. Stop Blaming Others

Similar to number 11, only this time your attitude will turn towards other people, in a desperate attempt to avoid feeling hurt. Just stop it. Although it may seem like a relief, blaming others it’s just a temporary hack, it won’t last. In 99% of the situations, what we experience is the direct result of our own actions.

24. Do Small, Repetitive Tasks

Borrow the behavior of a machine. Do those tiny little things you avoided so much because they seemed so boring. Now it’s the best time to start working on them. Slicing your time and focus will dissolve the pressure. Frustration will slowly dilute in this sea of tiny, repetitive tasks.

25. See It From The Past

Alternative to number 13, looking at your own frustration from the past will color it in a new, fresher light.  Most of the time, the feeling triggered by this perspective is: “I’ve been through though times before, I can get over this”. And this is more often than you think true: we have a huge life experience, we just don’t trust it enough.

26. Read Similar Stories

You’re not alone. And even if you find it difficult to talk to other people you can always do this by yourself: just scorch the Internet using descriptive keyphrases about your own frustration. You’ll discover that you’re not alone. Somebody else have been there too. And now he’s so over it.

27. Assess Progress

Every second of your life changes something. Look for the small steps you’re doing and assess them. The first item on this assessment list may be: “I’m starting to assess my progress and this is in itself a huge step forward”. The more you write, the bigger your progress will seem.

28. Disguise It

Put a mask on it, make it look like something else: “I’m feeling frustration right now, but this is a mask for…” and replace with whatever quality you want to build: discipline, personal power, endurance. Transform it. I usually use the caterpillar – butterfly image: it’s bad now but look what it can become.

29. Contrast It With A Worse Situation

Try to identify a related situation but with a significantly higher degree of damage. If you’re in debt, imagine how it will be to be bankrupt. If you’re having a relationship hickup, try to imagine how it would be to live on a desert island for the rest of your life. Be grateful for what you experience, because it can be worse.

30. Dilute It With Meditation

I don’t preach meditation as an all-in-one cure, but from my personal experience, it does help. Meditation will not only shift your focus from your current situation, but it will also clean your thoughts and help your body regain a subtle energetic balance. Remember you’ll still have to take action, meditation will only dilute it.

31. Get Physical

Start an aggressive exercising routine. Getting physical will make it easier to embrace action and to do it with vigor and determination. A side effect of exercising is the “endorphin effect”: the induction of a well-being state generated by your own body.

32. This Too Shall Pass

Impermanence is at the core of our human nature, is our curse and escape: we’re prisoners of time and everything we experience is bound to it. Laughter and sadness, joy and depression, everything will fade away in time. The same will happen to this frustrating period too: it will pass.

33. Write A List Of 33 Ways To Overcome Frustration

This is an incredible exercise. As funny as it may seem in this context, it’s actually a very powerful standalone approach. Just sit back and try to imagine 33 ways to get over your current frustration. I bet that around number 20 your problem will seem smaller than you thought it was. :-)

We Need What Jesus Has

And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him—the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the reverential and obedient fear of the Lord.
- Isaiah 11:2

God is looking for people who will demonstrate the glory of His presence in their lives. They will be people who obey Him in every little thing. Obedience keeps us from defiling our conscience and keeps us living for God's glory.
We know that the verse for today is a prophecy about Jesus, but if the Spirit of Jesus is dwelling in us and living through us, then we will enjoy all that is upon Him. We will have wisdom, understanding, counsel, might, and knowledge.
Problems dissolve in the presence of these virtues. We don't have to live in confusion if we are obedient to the leading of the Spirit. The Lord will give us quick counsel, wisdom, understanding, and might if we are reverential and submissive toward Him. People who want to have understanding, who want to hear from God, who want to have wisdom and knowledge imparted to them must have reverential fear and awe of God. Reverential fear is to know that God is God and that He means business. He has called us His friends, even His sons and daughters, but we're to respect Him and honor Him with reverential obedience.

Love Never Fails
We all have people in our lives that are difficult at times. Maybe it’s someone you work with, a family member, or even your spouse. Relationships can be complicated, but always remember: love never fails.
The Word of God clearly defines love in 1 Corinthians 13. It says that love is patient and kind. It doesn’t seek its own way. It keeps no record of wrongs. And most importantly, love never fails. Notice that this chapter on love doesn’t talk at all about how you feel. God’s love isn’t about feelings. It’s a choice. You can choose to be patient, even when you don’t feel like being patient. You can choose to be kind, even when you don’t feel like being kind.
No matter what situation you find yourself in, you can choose love. You are never more like God than when you are walking in love. When you are walking in love, you will never fail because love never fails. Open your heart and receive God’s love today!

A Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You for Your love which never fails. Thank You for filling me and setting me free to love others. Empower me, by Your Spirit, to walk in love no matter what I may face today in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

You Have to Save Your Life

You have to save your life.
A stranger said this to me the other day. It wasn’t a demand or a request or some kind of threat, it was a fact he’s been telling himself for years. And he happened to say it out loud. I don’t think he meant to give me advice or become a momentary inspirational speaker. But he did and he was. I heard those words as if he were gripping my shoulders, urgent and pleading. You have to save your life.
It’s the easiest thing in the world to take our working lungs for granted. To give our wishes to the stars and our hearts to someone else. Because we’re conditioned to wait for knights on white horses or fairy godmothers with the right spells. “What’s next?” doesn’t always have an easy answer. We want the flick of a wand.

We want to believe in a magic that changes it all for us. But, maybe we have to be the hero this time.

There’s going to be whole chapters we want to skip and thick, wayward forests but we have to attempt to pick up enough pieces to build a castle with. Because happily ever after isn’t an ending we can find ourselves living without loss and struggle and fear. It might not even exist. There might always be burning suns overhead and this idea of a blissful forever can only be the mirage that keeps us going.
Maybe that’s all this man really meant, just, “Do whatever you can to stay breathing on this impossible, spiraling planet. Even if it’s not all of the things you imagined, call it home for as long as you can. Fight for this, the hurt and the love and the hope and the beauty here. At least try.”
Sometimes, I want to let Prince Charming handle it. I want him to sweep me off my tired feet and wake me up with that saving kiss. To tell me the battlefields I’ve been braving lately are just part of some make-believe story I forgot I was reading. I can stop thrashing in these cold, tangled sheets and all of the pretty shoes will fit now. It’s only birdsong and glitter from here on out.
But maybe fairytales aren’t real until I rescue myself.

Maybe we just have to put our own armor on and say, “Here I am, showing up to this day, ready to slay the things that threaten to break me. Here I am, charging the empty spaces I carry. And I’m going to survive.”

Cast Your Cares And Live Worry-Free
When Jesus died on the cross, He unleashed all the blessings of God into our lives. And God’s blessings have been flowing from His throne to us ever since. These blessings cannot be stopped. The only way they can be stopped is when we worry. That’s why God specifically tells us to cast our cares on Him.
You see, when you worry about a particular area of your life, you constrict God’s supply into that area. Now, God is still supplying the blessing, but it is not coming through because your worrying is constricting the “supply pipe”! You may pray, “Oh God, why aren’t You supplying me in this area of my life?” God says, “I am supplying. If you will let go, you’ll let My supply flow into that area.”
What are you worried about today? Not having enough for your daily provision? A painful symptom in your body? A mistake you made? Beloved, see the Father’s heart and love for you as He invites you to simply cast all your cares on Him. His Word tells you that He cares for you “affectionately” and “watchfully”. This means that nothing escapes His notice when it comes to your needs. So rest knowing that He will give you His best, and let His abundant supply provide for every breakthrough you need!

Anxiety


"If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed." « John 8:36
Anxiety can be extremely painful.  While going through tough-times anxiety can end up being your morning coffee and your evening tea. It attaches itself to every decision, every opportunity, every interaction, everything you do— it can overwhelm your life.

Even during favorable times anxiety can make us uneasy about how things will turnout; the uncertainty of “what’s next” pains the heart and clouds the mind.

Jesus can break those chains and free you of the burdensome yoke of anxiety in your life.  This month’s calendar will empower you with scriptures to hold fast to Christ and experience true freedom.


"Father, I thank you for our freedom from anxiety.  I confess that I live a worry-free, stress-free life for You have given us life-dominating peace and joy, even in times of trouble. Your peace guards our heart and mind, provides strength to resist the emotional attacks of the devil –he is defeated.  Thank you Lord for leading us to a place of peace and rest.  In Jesus' name I pray, amen!"

In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

Not Your Love But His Love
The sum total of the law is to love God with all your heart, all your soul and all your mind (Matthew 22:37–40). But let me ask you this: Has anybody ever been able to love the Lord with all his heart, all his soul and all his mind?
The answer is obvious. Not a single person has been able to do that. And God knew all the while that under the law, no one could love Him that perfectly. So do you know what He did? He sent His Son Jesus. When He did that, He was effectively saying this to us: “I know that you can’t love Me perfectly, so watch Me now. I will love you with all My heart, all My soul, all My mind and all My strength.” And He stretched His arms wide and died for us!
My friend, take time to get this into your heart today: The cross is not a demonstration of our perfect love and devotion to God. The cross is God’s demonstration of His perfect love and His perfect grace (unmerited favor) toward us. Let me give you the Bible’s definition of love to make this even clearer for you: “In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” That’s the emphasis of the new covenant of grace (unmerited favor)—His love for us, not our love for Him. And when we focus on His love for us, we end up loving Him and others effortlessly!

Nehemiah 8:10 is an encouraging scripture that says, “…Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength” (AMP). God wants us to stay joyful no matter what difficulties we face in life, because His joy is our strength. Simply put, it’s the fruit of joy that strengthens us to go through whatever we have to deal with and make it to the end result. That’s why, as Christians, joy should be our normal mood.
Paul was determined to enjoy the journey no matter how many potholes were in the road. In Colossians 1:11, he wrote, “[We pray] that you may be invigorated and strengthened with all power according to the might of His glory, [to exercise] every kind of endurance and patience (perseverance and forbearance) with joy” (AMP). Our joy is a weapon. It gives us the ability to not only endure difficulties, but to enjoy life in the midst of them.


Obstacles to Joy

But what happens when you wake up in the morning feeling low, irritated, discouraged or frustrated—and you don’t know exactly why? There has to be a reason. Well, for every “fruit” there is a root. And if you don’t get to the root of a bad mood, you just start blaming everything and everybody for making you feel bad, and focusing only on all the things that are wrong rather than the good God is doing in your life.
It’s amazing how our minds automatically lean toward the negative. That’s our old, unregenerate nature at work. But God’s Word says we are new creatures in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17). And Ephesians 4:24 tells us to “put on the new nature (the regenerate self) created in God’s image, [Godlike] in true righteousness and holiness” (AMP). This means we have to deliberately put on Christ’s love, mercy and patience—it’s a choice we make.
Before you start thinking, “But Joyce, you don’t understand how bad things have been and how much I’m hurting,” I want to remind you of an encouraging truth. God never tells us to do something He doesn’t give us the ability to do. Philippians 4:13 (AMP) says, “I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency].” The key is to always lean on Jesus for the ability and strength you need to do what you need to do.

Figure Out Why You Feel Bad

If you’re frustrated by a bad attitude and not sure how to begin to overcome it, you need to discover the root of the fruit. Sometimes there are obvious reasons we feel lousy. It may be a bad habit, like not eating right or staying up too late at night. I always feel bad the next day when I eat too much sugar and carbohydrates. The simple solution is to eat healthier and go to bed at a decent time.
On a spiritual level, maybe you care too much about what people think about you to the point you are letting them control you. As a result you always say “yes” to people when you really want to say, “no.” Or you wake up feeling bad because you did something wrong the day before and haven’t repented of it yet. Now you’re reaping the consequences. But 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (NKJV).

Is Your Spiritual Gas Tank Empty?

When I do a conference, I give it my all, and I’m glad to do it. But when I go home, if I don’t take time to get back in the Word, spend quiet time with God and get “filled up” spiritually, I’m bound to get a bad mood and start grumbling and complaining. When I run on empty, I’m a mess!
You must spend daily time in God’s presence if you’re going to live with the joy of the Lord. The more intimate your personal relationship with Him becomes, the better your fruit will be. Isaiah 40:31 (AMP) confirms it:
“Those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired.”
If you’re not living with the joy of the Lord, examine the root of your fruit. Spend time with God, study the Word, do what He tells you to do by His grace, and soon your joy will return.

What's behind suicide?

In researching this website, I came across some interesting studies and comments about what drives people to suicide. I thought it might be helpful to share this information so people can understand better what might be lying behind how they are feeling.
Research in the UK and in the US seems consistent in identifying the principal factors that contribute to someone committing suicide. According to the American Association of Suicidology1, major depression is the psychiatric diagnosis most commonly associated with suicide. The risk of suicide in people with major depression is about 20 times that of the general population. About two thirds of people who complete suicide are depressed at the time of their deaths. That's a very high percentage.
The risk of someone suffering from an untreated major depressive disorder trying to commit suicide is around 1 in 5 (20%). However, the suicide risk among treated patients is around 1 in 1,000 (0.1%). That would point to treatment for depression substantially reducing the risk of suicide, so maybe there is hope for feeling better. See Help me.
Research studies2,3,4 would point to the following being major factors triggering people to attempt to kill themselves. Note that more than 90 percent of people who die by suicide have the top two risk factors:
  • Depression (especially if exhibiting extreme hopelessness, lack of interest in activities that were previously pleasurable, heightened anxiety and/or panic attacks) and other mental disorders
  • An alcohol or substance-abuse disorder (often in combination with other mental disorders)
  • Relationship difficulties (either with an existing partner, or due to divorce, being widowed or a relationship break-up)
  • Prior suicide attempt (one study5 indicated that anyone who has previously attempted suicide is 100 times more likely to make a successful attempt compared to the suicide rate of the general population)
  • Family history of mental disorder or substance abuse
  • Family history of suicide, or exposure to the suicidal behaviour of family members, peers, or media figures
  • Family violence, including physical or sexual abuse (especially for young people)
  • Firearms in the home, the method used in more than half of US suicides
  • Being in prison
  • Unemployment
  • Issues with studies (a major problem for those at university/college)
  • Financial problems
  • Legal problems
  • Social deprivation
  • Social isolation
However, suicide and suicidal behaviour are not normal responses to the factors mentioned above; many people have these risk factors, but are not suicidal. Research also shows that the risk for suicide is associated with changes in brain chemicals called neurotransmitters, including serotonin. Decreased levels of serotonin have been found in people with depression, impulsive disorders, a history of suicide attempts, and in the brains of suicide victims.
Depression, like other mental illnesses, is probably caused by a combination of biological, environmental, and social factors, but the exact causes are not yet known. For years, scientists thought that low levels of certain neurotransmitters (such as serotonin, dopamine, or norepinephrine) in the brain caused depression.
However, scientists now believe that the interplay of factors leading to depression is much more complex. Genetic causes have been suggested from family studies that have shown that between 20 and 50 percent of children and adolescents with depression have a family history of depression, and that children of depressed parents are more than three times as likely as children with non-depressed parents to experience a depressive disorder6.
In some people, there can be underlying physical reasons for severe depression. For instance, those diagnosed with a terminal illness, or those living with a long term physical disability, especially if accompanied by pain that is never likely to go away. It can be much harder to treat depression for people in this category, as the underlying causes are physical issues that cannot be cured. Whom God Loves, He Chastens

For the Lord corrects and disciplines everyone whom He loves, and He punishes, even scourges, every son whom He accepts and welcomes to His heart and cherishes.
- Hebrews 12:6
When we need correction—and there are times when we all need it—I believe it is the Lord's first desire to correct us Himself. Whom the Lord loves, He chastens. God's correction or chastisement is not a bad thing; it is always and ultimately only for our good.
The fact that it works toward our good does not mean it always feels good or that it is something we enjoy immediately: For the time being no discipline brings joy, but seems grievous and painful; but afterwards it yields a peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it [a harvest of fruit which consists in righteousness—in conformity to God's will in purpose, thought, and action, resulting in right living and right standing with God]. (Hebrews 12:11)
Correction is probably one of the most difficult things for most of us to receive, especially when it comes through another person. Even if we have problems, we don't want others to know we have them. I believe God prefers to correct us privately; but if we won't accept His correction or if we don't know how to allow Him to correct us privately, He will correct us publicly, using whatever source He needs to use. We may not always like the source God chooses to use, but it is wisdom to accept correction in order to avoid "going around the mountain one more time" (see Deuteronomy 2:3).

Oh honey, hold on to your hat because the new energy coming is a game changer.
And thank goodness, because if you’re like me (and most of my friends and clients), you might be finding yourself wide-awake in the middle of the night wondering: What am I doing? Where am I going? And Where the heck is my future heading?   
Something’s going on in the ethers and everyone seems to be feeling it.
Major change and major advancement in our emotional evolution are happening!
They say it has to hurt a bit more before it can get better, but I think we’ve all been hurting enough, don’t you? It’s time to c h a n g e.
Laying in bed in the middle of the night worrying is probably the most painful and non-productive thing we can possibly do AND it does nothing for us.

Faith and fear are both parts of the same hand. The only difference between them is which side we flip up and decide to spend time looking at.

We’re not going to be able to escape our fear, but we CAN learn to manage it, instead of letting it manage us.
I was reminded this morning that when we worry, we’re living in the past. We’re tapping into old situations and old things we were taught, instead of living in the now.
In the now moment worry doesn’t exist.
It’s when we think about what could be or what might be, that we’re in the possible future.  
It’s when we think about what once happened or what we were told could happen, we’re in the past.  
So this morning, I woke up filled with angst and worry, and when I realized I was starting my day this way, I got pissed. I realized I was spinning out in my own head and if I didn’t make a major change immediately, I was going to ruin the whole day (and probably my night’s sleep too).
So I changed my state. Motivational Speaker and teacher Tony Robbins has talked about this for years. Our state is how we feel, how we walk, what we’re doing and how we’re thinking.
Instead of trudging up the stairs to make my bed and get ready for the day, I made myself run up the stairs and jump in the shower as though I was on a schedule.
Just the burst of new energy involved with running up my stairs with purpose rather than moseying up to start the day, had me feeling different.
Jumping in the shower with a purpose as though I had an appointment, made me feel different.
I was shocked. This stuff works! I teach it, but like all of us, I forget to listen to my own teaching!
Since I was on a roll, I took my dog for a walk, noticed the beauty all around me and counted my gratitude for what was working in my life, and returned home with a COMPLETELY different state of mind.

So what’s my point this week? Well, I have a few:

The energy of change is upon us and it’s fertile.
This means it’s an excellent time to plant a new seed, turn the page on a new chapter and DECIDE you’re not going to keep slugging along and letting yourself live in fear or worry.
When you find yourself in worry or fear, stop and REALIZE you’re either living in the past or thinking about the future.
You’re not here in the NOW when you’re in fear or worry. Nothing you’re worrying about or fearing is actually TRUE right now in this moment. Take a look around and reality check yourself. Count your gratitude and notice what’s GREAT in your life. Then take action on what you CAN control.
Change your state.
Suddenly walk faster than you need to, burst up the stairs, take a shower, go for a walk, start breathing deeply, or stand up straight and smile.
This stuff works. Trust me.

Faith and fear live on the same hand. The only difference is a flip of the palm.

It’s Your Time
God has planted seeds of greatness on the inside of you, and He has predestined that those things in your heart come to pass. You may have had more than your share of unfair things happen in your life. You probably have plenty of reasons to just settle where you are. But understand, the depth of your past is an indication of the height of your future.
If you’ve been through a lot of negative things in the past, it just means that your future is bigger and brighter and greater than you can even imagine. It’s your time to step out and embrace all that God has for you! Are there dreams and promises that you’ve let go of? Are there things that God has placed in your heart, but because of time, because of disappointments, you’ve given up on them?
Today is the day to give your dreams a new beginning. Today is the day to allow faith to rise in your heart. Remember, what’s happened to you is not nearly as important as what’s happened in you, and you are stronger and wiser than ever before. It’s your time; it’s your season to move forward into the destiny that God has prepared for you!

A Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You for what You are doing in my life today. I receive the vision You have for me. I receive Your hope. I look forward with joy to all You have for my future in Jesus name. Amen!”

I, Wisdom [from God], make prudence my dwelling, and I find out knowledge and discretion.
- Proverbs 8:12
There is a lot of powerful information in this small scripture—information you would do well to explore. In the Scriptures being prudent means being good stewards or managers of the gifts that God has given you to use. Those gifts include time, energy, strength, and health, as well as material possessions.
Each of us has been given a different set of gifts, and each of us has different abilities to manage those gifts. It is your individual responsibility to develop knowledge and discretion as to how you can best use your gifts. You do this by listening to the Lord and obeying what He tells you to do.
Following Wisdom is an excellent choice—one that will bring you many blessings!

Todays Word with Joel and Victoria

Today’s Scripture
“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.”
(Ephesians 3:20, NIV)









His Power at Work
God is able to do more than you could ever ask or imagine! But notice, this verse says it’s according to the power that is at work within you. How does God’s power work within you? His power works in you when you are walking in love. It is at work in you when you choose to forgive those who have wronged you. God’s power is at work in you when you bow before Him with an open and humble heart. He is at work in you when you are serving others and putting their needs above your own.
Remember, God wants to move on your behalf. He loves to bless you! Choose today to let God’s power work in and through you by choosing to walk in love!

A Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You for choosing to bless me. I invite You to work in my life today. Show me how to walk in Your love so that Your power will flow through me today in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

Today strive to be better than you were yesterday.  Make better decisions, think things through completely.  Pray for guidance and wisdom.  Appreciate where you are now and what you've already accomplished.  Forgive yourself for the stupid mistakes and move forward.  You are worthy of love. You are worthy of good thing happening in your life.  You deserve to be happy! Finally, love yourself more than you did yesterday.

The Greatest Commandment

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind (intellect). This is the great (most important, principal) and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as [you do] yourself.
- Matthew 22:37-39
This was how Jesus responded when He was asked which was the greatest commandment and law. In Matthew 7:12, Jesus said, Whatever you desire that others would do to and for you, even so do also to and for them, for this (sums up) the Law and the Prophets. So, to experience God and His plan for our lives, we are to look for the needs of others and do what we can to serve them.
Our religion is not pure if it is polluted with "self." Our self-centeredness keeps us from noticing what other people are going through. We don't have to totally forget about our desires. But we must chase selfishness away by not always thinking about them. Psalm 37:4 plainly tells us that when we delight in the Lord, He gives us the desires and secret petitions of our hearts.

...the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor bread to the wise, nor riches to men of understanding, nor favor to men of skill; but time and chance happen to them all.
Ecclesiastes 9:11
Right Happenings Come From Jesus
Never forget that “the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong...but time and chance happen to them all.” God wants you to have the right timing—His timing, and He wants to lead you to the right places. Psalm 37:23 says, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord…” You are that “good man” because you are the righteousness of God in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:21).
Now, look at the word “happen” in Ecclesiastes 9:11. In the original Hebrew text, it is the word qarah, which means “to encounter, to meet (without pre-arrangement), to chance to be present.” In a nutshell, it means “right happening.” So you can depend on the Lord to cause you to be at the right place at the right time, to have right happenings happen in your life! I’m sure that you would agree that being at the right place at the right time is a tremendous blessing. You certainly don’t want to be at the wrong place at the wrong time!
Beloved, don’t depend on how smart you are and how well you plan your day. Only Jesus knows how to place you at the right place at the right time. So depend on Him for right happenings. Commit your plans to Him and let Him lead you supernaturally into good success in all that you do!
