2 Dead In Murder-Suicide In Off-Campus Apartments Near Salisbury University
SALISBURY, Md. (WJZ) — Salisbury police are investigating what they say is a murder-suicide Tuesday night.
Kai Jackson has more.
The shooting occurred on Onley Road, where there are several off-campus apartments. Many Salisbury University students live in that area.
Salisbury Police tell Salisbury’s CBS affiliate, WBOC, that two people are dead following a murder-suicide, including a victim and the shooter. One Salisbury University student was involved and has been flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore; police say she is seriously wounded.
“Salisbury police were the first officers on the scene and located three victims suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. We have confirmed that two of the three victims are deceased; a third was flown to Baltimore Shock Trauma,” said Wicomico County Sheriff Mike Lewis. He confirmed the third victim is a student at SU.
Lewis said that they believe the shooter is dead so there is no cause for alarm. He called this a “domestic dispute.”
The two deceased are both men; neither were SU students.
Salisbury University officials issued an emergency bulletin on the school’s website. It read, “Police are investigating a shooting in the area of Onley Road. Authorities ask that the area be avoided as the investigation continues. There is no further information to report at this time.” Almost half an hour later, officials updated with “The investigation thus far reveals that no continuing threat exists to the campus community. Authorities still ask that the Onley Road area be avoided as the investigation continues.”
Lewis said none of the identities would be released until families were notified.
